The Company


MDLab (Modeling Dielectric Laboratory) is an innovative start-up company developing a disruptive software solution encompassing several distinctive features (i.e., automatic interpretation and calibration, full reliability simulation, focus on dielectric-based devices with a multi-scale atomic approach, flexible graphical interface resembling a measurement instrument) compared to the TCAD software available on the market. Differently from its competitors, GINESTRA™ will offers a reliable and full integrated solution focused on dielectric material.  

MDLab software was founded in 2013 after 20 years of research projects carried out by the company founders, in collaboration with the most important research centers and industries around the world. 





Key People



Luca Vandelli, Ph. D.

Luca Vandelli was born in Reggio Emilia, Italy, in 1985. He received the Master degree in electronic engineering and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Modena, Italy, in 2009. His research interests focus on modeling and characterization of electrical transport and reliability of thin gate oxides in nonvolatile memory devices and MOS transistors.



Andrea Padovani, Ph. D.

Andrea Padovani was born in Reggio Emilia, Italy, in 1978. He received the Ph.D. degree in 2010 from the University of Ferrara. His research interests include the modeling of dielectric degradation and breakdown of high-k/metal gate transistors and the modeling of innovative nonvolatile memories like charge-trapping devices (nitride read-only memory, TANOS) and high-k-based resistive memories (resistive random access memory). He authored and coauthored more than 90 technical papers. He currently serves as Committee Member of IEEE IRPS, IEEE IIRW and VLSI-TSA conferences.
